Our First Fundraiser for the Daughter of Our Hearts!

This is one of our dear friends Smitty, he is a self proclaimed "chef". He loves to cook and does a great job at it. He helped us raise money for our daughter by teaching a class on how to make Yummy Tiramisu and Creme Brulee. Oh these desserts were divine.
Some of my precious friends came and learned how to make these delicious desserts while donating money for our adoption fund. If you know me well, you know I LOVE to cook. So this was right up my alley.. cooking, eating and socializing with some good friends.

Here's a picture of my friends, Ginger, Kathy and Ginger's daughter Grace and Ruby Caroline. I think we all had fun and enjoyed ourselves.
I can't thank everyone enough for coming to support us on our journey of adoption. I am always blown away with how God provides for us along this journey. It may be a prayer from someone, a phone call, a donation or just someone saying how happy they are for us. God has provided so many confirmations along the way and I'm sure HE will continue to confirm that HE has a precious little girl for our family.
It isn't a coincident that this Sunday's sermon was about Caring for the Fatherless. God has been speaking to us directly each week at church, confirming HIS plan for us. What a blessing!

LOTS OF ADOPTION INFO

This past Saturday, I was able to attend the International Adoption Clinic's seminar on the Joys and Challenges of International Adoption. Wow! This group of professionals are an awesome resource for anyone thinking about adopting or once you do adopt. I was so amazed at their knowledge. What was so great about this team (MD, OT, ST, Family Therapist) almost all of them had adopted or worked in an orphanage at one time. The clinic is in Birmingham, AL.
Well worth the drive to get great care for our little one once she first gets home.
So glad God has provided us with a wonderful resource for our little girl before she comes home and after.
It was a great day, there were families there that were adopting from all over. It is so good to see God working in the lives of people you don't even know but you know you have a special bond with them. One that God put there.
If you have questions about adoption this is a great resource. They had so many answers to alot of my questions and concerns.
Can't wait to get to know them all better once our little one is here.

WAITING

As we are patiently waiting. Waiting to complete our home study, dossier and all the other paper work to complete this adoption process. I am reminded today that God can use me in my waiting. He is using me while my faith is growing, deepen of my spiritual roots and to reach out to others.
Is God calling you to something outside your comfort zone? Don't tell HIM no. Reach out for his hand today, HE will walk with you, guide you to what HE has planned for you. Your calling may not be adoption, but it could be. Spend today listening to what God is saying to you.
Today our church is encouraged to have a day of fasting and prayer. I am praying for our sweet precious little girl today. I know God has HIS hand on her today. I am praying for you, that God will touch your heart today, open your mind today to live your life for HIM and only HIM.
Our GOD is amazing. HE loves us so much. Don't tell HIM no any longer.
He is waiting on you today.

MERRY CHRISTMAS !

I had to post this sweet picture of the boys with Santa. We went to Matthew's school recently and had breakfast with Santa and got this sweet picture with him. We are all preparing to celebrate Jesus' birthday. I can't believe it is only 2 days away. My how the time flys.
As, we prepare for Jesus' birthday my heart is excited with anticipation, but longing for our daughter that is still so far away from us. I know God is with her preparing her for our family and wrapping her with his protective arms. We are hoping she will be here next year for Christmas. Oh what a wonderful Christmas that will be. Until then, I pray for her, long for her and cry for her. Sweet girl, we love you with all our hearts. We are coming, as soon as we can.
I am also filled with anticipation at what God has in store for us in this coming year. Our church is launching an "Outlive your Life" campaign. Wow! Wait a minute God. I thought you might be finished with us for a while. Well, I guess not. I am so happy to be on this Life's journey with my Savior. Can't wait to see what he does next. I am just leaning on HIM, letting him guide me as he holds my families hand to follow HIM.

Wishing Everyone the Best Christmas Ever!

YAY! THEY CAME TODAY

Hallelujah
Our FBI fingerprints reports came in the mail today. I have been going to the mail box for weeks, opening it and looking in and being disappointed. Today, Mike checked the box and came walking casually in the house and handed me 2 brown envelopes that were from the FBI. I nearly jumped out of my skin, opened them and did the Whoop Hoo dance around our kitchen, yelled and laughed with happiness. Well, it took 6 weeks and 3 days for us to get these reports back and man it felt like 6 months. I am so glad Mike was home to share in the experience and happiness of when these came back to us. I know everything is in God's perfect timing but it sure is hard to wait patiently at times. So, glad to get this back and begin to move forward with our home study and complete our dossier. Precious little girl, we are praying for you, yearning to know your face, and can't wait to swoop you up in our arms and hold you tight.

May the God of Hope fill you with all joy and peace... Romans 15:13

LET IT SNOW! LET IT SNOW!

I can't believe it, but it did snow today. Only for 20 minutes or so but remember yesterday, I said it would be perfect if it snowed. Oh, I hope the boys saw the snow at school today. It is beautiful. Maybe we will get some more. This picture doesn't do it justice. The crazy thing is its sunny outside now and you can't even tell it snowed. Mississippi weather. It was nice while it lasted.

Boy We Have Been Busy

If you have been wondering what the Birdsong's have been up to lately...

We had a great Thanksgiving day with family and friends. I didn't get one picture of Thanksgiving, I guess I was too busy cooking.

As usual, we got our Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving and decorated it with all types of ornaments. It's an old fashioned tree with candy canes too. Our Elf showed up really early this year. If you look hard you can see "Alfie" in the tree.

Here's a picture of our 2nd annual " Marshmellow Wreath" We hang it in the yard for the birds at Christmas. Oh what fun! We had a great time putting all those marshmellows on the wreath.

This is my most favorite time of the year. We love to ride around and look at Christmas lights while listening to Christmas music. I Love it! It's all about baby Jesus, family and friends. Now if we could get a little snow. It would be perfect. Doubt that will happen here in Mississippi.

Enjoy this special time of the year, take time for friends and family. Life is too short to miss out on the Joy of Christmas.
